Welcome Dr Mark Hooper!

Dr Hooper graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) and a Bachelor of Chiropractic, having been awarded Honours for demonstrating a high level of academic achievement. Mark’s interest in chiropractic began when he met his wife, who is keenly interested in natural therapies. After some initial resistance, he agreed to visit a chiropractor and while he was initially sceptical, he was glad to experience good results. Since then he and his family have benefited from regular chiropractic care, having cultivated an interest in chiropractic in general and the place it has in a healthy family lifestyle. Dr Hooper is married to Jenni and they have three children.

All of us at Shelley Chiropractic Health Centre welcome Mark and wish him a good start! Dr Hooper will be working on Tuesday mornings.

Tibetan Acupressure

In addition to acupuncture and naturopathy, Ann Park is now providing Tibetan Acupressure-Compassionate Touch (TACT) on Tuesdays. TACT works with the entire body and all its physical and energetic systems.  The treatment awakens the body's natural healing energies and has a profound effect on mind and body.  As sessions are gentle anyone can benefit from its effects including babies and children, the elderly, pregnant and nursing woman.  Clients are seated and remain fully clothed for the treatment.

Do You Know Your Biological Age?

As chiropractors, Dr Chan and I often discuss or are asked about supplementation.  Although it is not necessary for everyone, nutritional supplementation can greatly affect wellness and recovery from illness or dysfunction.  In our practice, we most commonly prescribe natural anti-inflammatories (such as fish oils), joint formulas (glucosamine) and muscle complexes (magnesium).

At the clinic we stock almost exclusively the Metagenics line of supplements.  It is a Practitioner Only brand which means that it is sold exclusively through clinics where the product has been prescribed by a health care provider with knowledge of nutritional medicine.  Metagenics products are rigorously tested for quality and efficacy.  This is so important.

I'm often asked why one should purchase a Metagenics product versus a grocery store supplement.  You get what you pay for and the quality of the Metagenics products is top-notch.  Metagenics is also concerned about how and where they source their ingredients and research is paramount in the development of their products.
